Norwich Food Locker Outreach Program

Norwich Area Clergy Food Locker

Started in 1971 in response to the needs of the community, the Food Locker has now been a staple of community support for more than 40 years. In 1993 the Food Locker became affiliated with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut/Labor Food Bank. The program is currently administered by Barbara Trocki and Doreen Mainville, along with some steadfast volunteers, and is in operation each Thursday, 9am-12noon. Clients must be referred by Norwich Human Services, Catholic Charities, TVVCA, Salvation Army, Reliance House, or any of the member church clergy.

Items especially needed are powdered milk packets, spaghetti sauce, tuna, and toilet paper. All donations are greatly appreciated.

The best time to bring non-perishable food donations is Thursday, 9 AM – 12 noon, when the Food Locker is open. Otherwise, donations can be brought Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 AM – 10:30 AM, or Sunday mornings. If you would like to volunteer please contact Barbara Trocki at btrocki@centralbaptistnorwich.com.

Norwich CT Community Hosting

Community Hosting

In addition to our church-sponsored programs, we make our facilities available to outside organizations. The First Haitian Baptist Church, a new member church of the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut, was a welcome guest until moving to their own building.

Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held each week in Upper Bushnell Hall at 8pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Call the church for more information or Check with www.ct-aa.org to confirm current schedules. We are also the host of the federally-funded family program, run by Family ReEntry.

Our building has central heat and air-conditioning, is accessible on both levels of our fellowship hall and our sanctuary, and is frequently used by other community organizations for meetings and special programming. The building may be available if your organization needs a place for an event. Call the church office for more information.
